The Move

Newsletter, April 2026

Welcome to The Move for April. This edition is jam-packed with T1D sports news. And, I’m sharing three Fitter for Having It moves that I’ve been using the most this month.

Sport and T1D News

April saw T1D personal sporting bests in the media - BIG time!

Lachie Kennedy ran the fastest 100m by an Australian sprinter on home soil - proving that you can rise to the top of elite sport with diabetes.

British actor James Norton made headlines in his first London Marathon with T1D, raising over GBP120,000 for Breakthrough T1D in the UK.

And to mark 40 years living with diabetes, I ran my furthest and longest in a single day and placed in the top 20% in Sydney’s Backyard Ultra.

I also sat down with big mountain runner Roger Hanney for Mojo boost and to record a Conversation on Fitter for Having It. Roger’s music choices are epic, and the podcast is well worth the wait.

Parts 1 and 2 of my Podcast with Roger will drop in May, after a great response to my first Conversation with Lara McSpadden.

Check out the ‘Fitter for Having It ’ channel on YouTube.

Australia’s fastest man

10-11 April

Lachie Kennedy broke 10 seconds in the 100m at the Australian Championships. His BIG messages about T1D like “it forces you to be aware, to think about your body, to be disciplined which helps on and off the track”‍ ‍fit perfectly here.

New Podcast 🎙️

15 April 2026

T1D trail running legend Roger Hanney spoke to me about living with diabetes and how he takes a positive approach, and a parachute, with him on epic trails across continents and BIG mountain ultra marathons.

London Marathon

26 April

British actor James Norton hit the front pages for running his first ever London marathon with T1D. James raised BIG money donating well over GBP120,000 for Breakthrough T1D to support diabetes research in the UK. Great work!

Sydney’s Backyard Ultra

18 - 19 April

In my Race Report I explain how I used T1D as my motivation and the moves that I drew on from previous races to set a BIG personal best running through the night at Sydney’s Backyard Ultra. More to come on this soon too.

  • "Set a big audacious goal, then tell someone about it"
